Remember...back in the late 90s, early 2000s, suspension was shit, so the heavier bikes yielded more confidence in the corners. That is not the case anylonger. Even Racetech shit back then didn't really fix the stability issue.
Besides I DID have a 2002 Gix 750....got stolen the first month I moved to CA. Mexicans...
